Can They See The Writing on The Wall?

Gail Collins and now Thomas Friedman of the New York Times have both asked President Bush to step down early, ushering in a new era of hopechangegood prior to Obama's January 20 inauguration.

Both offer daft if different excuses for their need to hurry Bush into history, but perhaps they simply want to be able to write about Obama while still a columnist with the fast-failing Times, and they aren't exactly convinced the Old Gray Lady will be above ground when the scheduled transition occurs.

1 As able as the liberal illuminati is to control so much in this country, asking a president to step down just because people don't like him is a little ridiculous. If that was the case, it would have been done much before now... or we would change elections to every two years instead of four.

2 What this shows us is part of America's lack of respect for our Constitution, law, and democracy. What does this tell us?? That when it's time for Obama to step down, they'll want to shred the Constitution and install Obama as a perpetual "President". Ie. Dictator. These people are running on pure Obama Kool Aid with no regard for democratic process. They want him to be their dictator in chief. They are caught up in a personality cult, are basically insane, and can't even maintain sufficient order to realize that timing must follow precedent and law. They are trying to break down all boundary lines of democratic order in their insatiable desire for totalitarian socialism. (The inauguration, imo, won't follow law in this case because Obama is not Constitutionally qualified, apart from perjury, to swear the oath of office to uphold the Constitution, etc.)

3 Liberals are seriously depraved. Friedman for all his vaunted intelligence, should take the next book writing period of his life, and read the Constitution. But, of course, to Friedman and liberals of his ilk, the Constitution is a "living document" at best, and an impediment to their plans at worst.

7 Actually, DIAF, there is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits Bush and/or Cheney from resigning. We've had both Presidents and Vice Presidents resign in the past, mostly during the Nixon years. However, there's no mechanism for installing Obama as President early... what would happen is Nancy Pelosi would take over as President, which would be at least as bad and quite possibly worse than The One.

I'll go along with all of this as long as Pelosi steps down first, then Cheney, then Bush. That way we can have our first AA President early and it will be a woman to boot. And she could probably grab Baracky by those ears and shake some sense into him.

10 Oh, wait. The Grand Kleagle of the Senate would have to step aside too. I'm liking this plan better all the time.
