Obama Volunteers Boot Muslims From Stage

I don't think for a second that the freshman Senator is himself anti-Muslim—his father's family and many of his half-siblings are Muslim—but this incident once again shows he is part of anything other than a post-racial campaign:

Two Muslim women at Barack Obama's rally in Detroit Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women's headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate.

The campaign has apologized to the women, all Obama supporters who said they felt betrayed by their treatment at the rally.

"This is of course not the policy of the campaign. It is offensive and counter to Obama's commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run," said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. "We sincerely apologize for the behavior of these volunteers."

He can blame the volunteers that forced these Muslim women off stage today in two separate incidents by different Obama volunteers, but these incidents aren't the first and second audience-shaping controversies for Obama's campaign. In April, campaign volunteers issued a directive to "Get me more white people, we need more white people" for Michelle Obama's appearance at Carnegie Mellon.

1 Well Bob, of course it will be just a matter of time before the official Obama word is: "Those are not the volunteers I knew before"

2 And he'll be stunned! Stunned and appalled to find out that this sort of racial engineering could occur in his campaign. My wife? Michelle? Demanding more whites? For PR purposes? I cannot disassociate myself from her any more than I can from my racist grandmother or insane black supremacist pastor, from whom I unreservedly disassociate myself. I disassociate myself from this Michelle, who is not the Michelle I've known for all these years. Now screw off and let me eat my waffle.

4 Obama throws muslim women under the bus! (it's getting crowded down there).

5 "If there is anyone to blame in this it is you and bloggers like you...and FoxNews." There. Fixed that for you. Apparetnly Fredrick works in Fred Hobbs' office.

6 The women were GOP plants trying to create a "photo op" for the GOPigs to used against Obama. Obama's people were wise to be waiting for such a tactic. There's plenty of room "under the bus" for more idiots too.

8 Lookahere Bob, from today's Charlotte News - those patriots at Blackwater are trying to hide behind Sharia law to weasel out of their culpability for killing some of our soldiers. In April, Blackwater asked a federal judge in Florida to apply Islamic law, commonly known as ShariÂ’a, to the case. If the judge agreed, the lawsuit would be dismissed. ShariÂ’a law does not hold a company responsible for the actions of employees performed within the course of their work. Seems kind of unAmerican to me, but then again, I'm a liberal, so maybe I'm just not understanding why American laws aren't good enough for GOP-backed defense contractors. Adding: The link wouldn't post, but you can find it at TPM.

9 "If there is anyone to blame in this it is you and bloggers like you." Yes, it's true. Obama and his staff bear no responsibility at all for this action; the bloggers made him do it! The man who wants to be the leader of the most powerful nation in the world is so spineless that he can be bullied and browbeaten into doing things he does not want to do by the overwhelming power of . . . bloggers. Now that we know the truth, I expect that Bob Owens and his fellow bloggers will start campaigning for Obama. Think about it -- if he wins, the bloggers will control the President!

11 Obama already has the radical muslim vote. He needs to get some white people out there, those are the ones he needs to fool.

13 I thought those bescarved ladies were there to represent the coveted Muammar Gadaffi endorsement that Obama snared last weekend. The Libyans can't be happy with this type of development.

14 Spare us the crocodile tears. If these Obama volunteers hadn't asked these women not to stand behind him, you'd probably be using the resulting photo to prove that he's a secret Muslim terrorist. Nothing Obama can say or do will make you happy, partially because you're a blogger who's chosen to name yourself after an organization that killed over a hundred thousand Americans to defend their right to own people who look like him. Reading your blog it is plain as day that your objection to Obama is a very visceral one and that your attitudes towards black men in positions of power are similar to those of your namesake. While this has turned out to be embarrassing for Obama I wouldn't be surprised if, as others have conjectured, these were simply olive-skinned Republicans with scarves tied over their heads: it's a win-win situation. If they let you sit behind him: bam--more propaganda to convince idiots Obama is a Muslim. If they don't: you can immediately call the press and stir up a minor scandal in an attempt to dent his reputation. Either way, given the scurrilous rumors that your ilk have been spreading about him, it was entirely understandable--albeit politically naive--for these volunteers to avoid throwing a couple of raw steaks to the snapping dogs that are the Obama-hating, Islamophobic section of the blogosphere and media.

15 Also, come to think of it, any real Muslim supporter of Obama--especially women wearing headscarves--would be thoroughly and unfortunately aware of how much many Americans hate and mistrust visibly Muslim people, and of how their being positioned front and center could serve to stoke the rumors of Obama's "secret Muslim" status. Either these two girls were extraordinarily naive, which is possible, or they are not who they say they are. Remember the "Iron my shirt!" guys who turned out to be HRC plants?

Dexter - It's that secret Islamophobia that is rampant, the rise in hate crimes against Muslims in this country that is always alleged but never seen or proved in any statistics. That must be it. Yeah! That's why CAIR demanded an apology for the ladies from Obama and Obama complied. You need to get out more dude.

17 "The women were GOP plants trying to create a "photo op" for the GOPigs to used against Obama. Obama's people were wise to be waiting for such a tactic." When the left starts to get behind in an arguement they turn to 1 or 2 things. Conspiracy or name calling. Soon they will be commenting on ever spelling and grammer mistake that is made.

18 Remember the "Iron my shirt!" guys who turned out to be HRC plants? No, but I remember that they turned out to be employees of a local radio stations morning zoo show. The women were GOP plants trying to create a "photo op" for the GOPigs to used against Obama. Yeah, right. Sure they were.

19 It's worse than that, Pablo. Apparently, one of the women was in charge of proselytizing at U of Mich from 2000 to 2003. The other woman was the chair of a group called SAFE, which hosted a 2002 conference at which "Annihilate the Jews" was chanted. The links with the proof are all at the link I provided above. I am sure the lefties will still try to claim that these two were GOP plants, however... they never let the facts get in the way of a good smear.
